T5 fluorescent tubes have a very high light output for their small size.

T5 fluorescent tubes have largely replaced their older T8 brothers in the majority of new office and commercial lights. New T5 troffers are slimmer, lighter and are more reliable, with a wider variety of lamps available. Vanity over-the-mirror lights also benefitted from new T5 lamps, allowing for attractive slim light fittings which produce a lot of light. T5 tubes do not require starters as they are powered by electronic ballasts.
